The ACT Container Deposit Scheme will soon be expanding in 2027

In 2027, even more containers will be eligible for a 10‑cent refund—meaning more cash back in your pocket and less litter in our streets, parks and waterways.

What will be eligible in 2027

Wine and spirits glass bottles
Cordials and juice concentrate containers
Larger containers (up to 3L) of beverages already in the scheme. This includes flavoured milk and fruit & veggie juice.

These new items can’t be returned for a 10‑cent refund until the expansion is implemented in 2027. The community is encouraged to keep recycling these containers in their yellow-recycling bins until the expanded ACT Container Deposit Scheme is launched. We’ll keep you posted as we get closer to a launch date.

Plain milk and health tonic containers such as Yakult remain excluded. Please pop these in your household recycling bin.
