General updates

Key updates by region

Belconnen

  • ACT parks and reserves:
    • Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve: Mountain bike trail maintenance.
    • Removal and replacement of stock fencing across reserves in preparation for the Bushfire Operations Program grazing schedule.
  • Infrastructure projects: See the Belconnen infrastructure projects webpage for updates on current projects.
  • Horticultural maintenance: Charnwood shops.
  • NBN upgrades: Florey, Higgins and Holt.
  • Road closures: Macfarlane Burnet Avenue, at the intersection of Parkwood Road and Southern Cross Drive, will be closed from Saturday 11 July to Monday 20 July 2026.
  • Roads and paths:
    • Litter collection: Drake Brockman Drive and Southern Cross Drive.
    • Street sweeping: Belconnen Bus Interchange, Belconnen Town Centre, Emu Bank and Hawker shops.
  • Trees:
    • Storm clean up continues across the region
    • Pruning and removals: Cook and Macquarie
    • Young tree care: Belconnen, Evatt, Florey, Giralang and Kaleen.
  • Weed management:
    • Roadside weed management: Barton Highway, Belconnen and Belconnen Bus Interchange
    • Open space weed management: Page and Scullin.

Central Canberra

  • ACT parks and reserves: Stock fencing removal and replacement across reserves in preparation for the Bushfire Operations Program grazing schedule.
  • Infrastructure projects:
  • Horticultural maintenance:
    • Kingston Foreshore, Manuka shops and Lyneham playgrounds
    • Dickson and Hackett laneways.
  • NBN upgrades: Forrest, Griffith, Narrabundah and Red Hill.
  • Road closures: Sections of Capital Circle and State Circle will be closed nightly between 8 pm and 7 am until August 2026 for road maintenance. Please allow for extra travel time and follow detour signage in the area. For more information, visit the National Capital Authority website.

Tuggeranong

  • ACT parks and reserves: Pine Island central toilet block is closed until July 2026. Visitors can access the southern toilet block during this period.
  • Horticultural maintenance:
    • Shops in Kambah and Tuggeranong Town Centre
    • Open spaces in Gordon and along Tharwa Drive.
  • Infrastructure projects:
    • Monaro Highway upgrade: Lanyon Drive will be closed between the northbound and southbound carriageways of Monaro Highway from 7 pm Friday 10 July to 5 am Monday 13 July 2026. This closure will allow for stormwater culverts to be installed on Lanyon Drive. The culverts are concrete structures that channel water underneath the road from one side of Lanyon Drive to the other.

  • NBN upgrades: Isabella Plains.
  • Roads and paths:
    • Litter collection: Drakeford Drive, Monaro Highway and Tuggeranong Parkway.
    • Street sweeping: Tuggeranong Town Centre and shops in Calwell, Chisholm, Erindale, Kambah and Wanniassa.
  • Trees
    • Storm clean up continues across the region
    • Pruning and removals: Fadden, Gowrie, Kambah and Wanniassa
    • Planting: Fadden.
  • Weed management:
    • Alligator Weed control: Tuggeranong Creek
    • Roadside and open space weed management: Kambah and Wanniassa.

Woden, Weston Creek and Molonglo

  • ACT parks and reserves:
    • Walking trail works at Namarag.
    • Fence removal at Bluetts Block to improve safety for wildlife and visitors.
  • Horticultural maintenance:
    • Open spaces in Phillip
    • Shops at Cooleman Court, Garran, Lyons and Woden.
  • Infrastructure projects:
    • William Hovell Drive duplication: Concrete barriers are in place along the 4.5 km work area. Reduced speed limits and traffic management measures are in place. There is no pedestrian access at the current roundabout on William Hovell Drive, Drake-Brockman Drive and Kingsford Smith Drive. Pedestrian detours are in place to Belconnen Way, Kingsford Smith Drive, Murranji Street and Florina Place. There is no parking and no access to Kama and The Pinnacle nature reserves from William Hovell Drive. The Bicentennial National Trail underpass is closed.

  • Park maintenance: Link Park, Wright.
  • Ponds maintenance: Silt and debris removal at the Wyndham Avenue retention ponds in Denman Prospect continues until Tuesday 30 August 2026, weather permitting.
  • Roads and paths:
    • Asphalt patching: Curtin, Garran and Hughes.
    • Litter collection: Melrose Drive.
    • Line markings: The dividing lines will be refreshed on Liardet Street at Cooleman Court, adjacent to Aldi, on Wednesday 15 July 2026, between 10 am and 2 pm.
    • Path maintenance: Mawson.
    • Street sweeping: Garran and Hughes, and shops in Cooleman Court, Curtin, Mawson and Woden.
  • Trees
    • Storm clean up continues across the region
    • Pruning and removals: Curtin, Lyons, Mawson, Weston and Whitlam.
  • Weed management:
    • Serrated Tussock and Chilean Needle Grass control: Molonglo
    • Roadside weed management: Tuggeranong Parkway, Yamba Drive and Yarra Glen
    • Open space weed management: Curtin.

Rural

  • ACT parks and reserves:
    • Booroomba Rocks Road: Closed until further notice due to adverse weather conditions. For more information, contact the Namadgi Visitor Centre on 02 6237 5307 or email namadginationalpark@act.gov.au.
    • Gibraltar Falls: Viewing platform and walking track closed while safety upgrades are completed.
    • Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve: Minor works are underway at Sheedys picnic area, including the construction of a shelter over the barbecues. Please follow signage. There are barbecues available nearby and at Webbs picnic area.
    • Woods Reserve campground: Closed until late spring 2026 while facilities are upgraded.
