Project description

Planning is underway on Lake Ginninderra path upgrades.

North of the Belconnen Town Centre, surrounded by local shops, retirement villages, parks and residential suburbs, the paths around Lake Ginninderra provide a popular walking and cycling route.

The ACT Government is delivering the next stages of path upgrades around Lake Ginninderra. This includes path upgrades on the eastern peninsula, as well as path upgrades between Diddams Close and the northern section of the eastern peninsula to create a loop, plus upgrades along the western foreshore. The indicative areas for upgrade are in the map below.

This follows an upgrade of the walking and cycling path through John Knight Memorial Park in 2024. The same year, a project to repair the path and retaining wall along Emu Bank begun and is ongoing. Read more about the Emu Bank foreshore upgrade.

This project also supports the Active Travel Plan 2024-30 (PDF 14 MB) which aims to increase the number of people walking and cycling and enable more people to take up active travel.
