The weather forecast this week is mostly sunny. Our planned works are outlined below. They are subject to weather and any required operational changes.
Death cap mushrooms: Due to the mild winter conditions, death cap mushrooms continue to be found. If you think a death cap mushroom may be growing in a public area, report it to Access Canberra on 13 22 81 or go to Fix My Street. Find out more on the death cap mushrooms webpage.
Public transport: All light rail services will be replaced by buses on Saturday 4 July and Sunday 5 July 2026 to allow for infrastructure works to extend light rail from the city to Commonwealth Park. Rail replacement buses will operate between Alinga Street and Gungahlin Place in both directions. Regular services will resume on Monday 6 July 2026. Maintenance work will be undertaken on some mountain bike trails in Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve.

Infrastructure projects:
Garden City Cycleway: Construction works have commenced on Torrens Street, Braddon. Lane closures and permanent lane configuration works have been implemented. All works will be completed by late 2026.
Canberra Avenue pedestrian crossing: Asphalt works along Canberra Avenue between Hume Circle and Bourke Street will begin the week of Monday 13 July 2026. Traffic arrangements will be in place to ensure works can happen safely. Please follow the signage and instructions of the traffic controllers.
Park maintenance: Crews are undertaking park maintenance in Lyneham.
Road closures:
Captain Cook Crescent between Carnegie Crescent and Sturt Avenue in Griffith will be closed from 8 pm Friday 3 July to 6 am Monday 6 July 2026 (weather permitting) for electrical upgrade works at Narrabundah College.
Sections of Capital Circle and State Circle will be closed nightly from Sunday 6 July until August 2026, between 8 pm and 7 am for road maintenance. Please allow for extra travel time and follow detour signage in the area. For more information, visit the National Capital Authority website.
Roads and paths: Crews are
picking up litter along Monaro Highway and Tuggeranong Parkway
undertaking vegetation control along Hindmarsh Drive, between Jerrabomberra Avenue and Mugga Lane. Lane closures will take place.
ACT parks and reserves: Dilapidated stock fencing will be removed and, where necessary, replaced across various reserves in preparation for the upcoming Bushfire Operations Program grazing schedule.
ACT parks and reserves: Pine Island central toilet block is closed for repairs until early July 2026. Visitors will still have access to the southern toilet block in the Pine Island recreation area.
Horticultural maintenance: Crews are undertaking maintenance work at shops in Kambah and in open spaces at Wanniassa.
Infrastructure projects:
Monaro Highway upgrade: Lanyon Drive will be closed between northbound and southbound carriageways of Monaro Highway from 7 pm Friday 10 July to 5 am Monday 13 July 2026. This closure will allow for stormwater culverts to be installed on Lanyon Drive. The culverts are concrete structures that channel water underneath the road from one side of Lanyon Drive to the other.
Fence removal continues in Bluetts Block to improve safety for wildlife and visitors.
Horticultural maintenance: Crews are undertaking maintenance work in open spaces in Phillip, and at shops in Fisher and Waramanga.
Infrastructure projects:
William Hovell Drive duplication: Concrete barriers to delineate the 4.5 km road alignment are in place. There are currently reduced speed limits and traffic management measures in place. There is no pedestrian access at the current roundabout on William Hovell Drive, Drake-Brockman Drive and Kingsford Smith Drive. Pedestrian detours are in place to Belconnen Way, Kingsford Smith Drive, Murranji Street and Florina Place. There is no parking and no access to Kama and The Pinnacle nature reserves from William Hovell Drive. The Bicentennial National Trail underpass is closed.
Ponds maintenance: Works to remove silt and debris within the Wyndham Avenue retention ponds at the corner of John Gorton Drive and Wyndham Avenue in Denman Prospect are underway until Tuesday 30 August 2026, weather permitting.

The Gibraltar Falls viewing platform and walking track will remain closed until later in 2026 to allow completion of signage and visitor safety infrastructure improvements at the site.
Minor works are underway at the Nature Discovery Playground at Sheedys picnic area in Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. Please stay away from any new planting and newly laid turf (signposted) and be mindful of workers and machinery operating in the vicinity.
Final autumn roadside mowing and slashing is being undertaken along Paddys River Road, Tidbinbilla Road and Point Huts Road. Traffic management is in place; however, due care should be taken and extra time allowed for machinery operating along the roads.

Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year.
Graffiti is removed within 15 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5-6 times a year. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
Playgrounds are routinely inspected and maintained as follows:
district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) which are inspected twice per week
central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) which are inspected every week
local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) which are inspected every fortnight.
Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned as follows:
town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required.
Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
