General updates
- Dams: Comprehensive dam inspections are continuing at five dams across Canberra until the end of August 2026, weather permitting. Dam levels will be lowered so engineers can inspect the dams and related infrastructure. Find out more about the dam works.

Key updates by region
Belconnen
- ACT parks and reserves: Works continue to remove scrap metal from reserves.
- Infrastructure projects:
- Charnwood shops upgrade: Community engagement is open on proposed public space improvements. Have your say before Friday 25 September 2026.
- Diddams Close boat ramp upgrade: Off-site works are underway, with on-site construction expected to start in the coming weeks, subject to lake levels and project requirements. Lake lowering is underway as part of dam inspection works, which also support delivery of this project.
- Path network improvements, Kuringa Drive: The path works are progressing well but the wet weather has delayed completion. Works are expected to be completed by the end of September 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.
- William Hovell Drive duplication: Concrete barriers are in place along the 4.5 km work area, with reduced speed limits and traffic management measures. There is no pedestrian access at the current roundabout on William Hovell Drive, Drake-Brockman Drive and Kingsford Smith Drive. Pedestrian detours are in place to Belconnen Way, Kingsford Smith Drive, Murranji Street and Florina Place. There is no parking and no access to Kama and The Pinnacle nature reserves from William Hovell Drive. The Bicentennial National Trail underpass is closed.

- Mowing: John Knight Park, Lake Ginninderra and Margaret Timpson Park.
- NBN upgrades: Florey, Higgins, Holt and Latham.
- Road closure: McClymont Way will be closed from Pro Hart Avenue to Lorna Byrne Terrace, and Lorna Byrne Terrace will be closed from McClymont Way to Asimus Avenue from 6 am to 10 pm on Saturday 29 August 2026 for the Ginninderry Festival. Local traffic will be accepted at all times.
- Roads and paths:
- Cycle path cleaning: Belconnen
- Litter collection: Braybrook Street, Ginninderra Drive and Masterman Street
- Path maintenance: Higgins, Holt, Latham, Macgregor and Scullin
- Street sweeping: Belconnen Bus Interchange, Belconnen Town Centre, Emu Bank and shops in Hawker and Kippax.
- Stormwater network upgrades: Works on the stormwater floodway between Alberga Street, Maribyrnong Avenue and Staaten Crescent in Kaleen are underway until Monday 26 October 2026, weather permitting.
- Trees:
- Pruning and removals: Higgins, Holt, Kaleen, Latham and Strathnairn
- Watering: Flynn, Latham and Melba.
- Weed management:
- Serrated tussock and Chilean needle grass control: Across the region
- Underpass, bus stop and concrete median weed management: Aranda, Charnwood, Cook, Higgins, Holt, Melba and Spence.
Central Canberra
- ACT parks and reserves:
- Mount Majura Nature Reserve: Some signage will be upgraded.
- Works continue to remove scrap metal and old fencing from reserves in Ainslie and Majura.
- Infrastructure projects:
- Garden City Cycleway: Stage 1D construction works are ongoing on Cooyong Street in Braddon. A full closure of Torrens Street is currently in place to install stormwater and traffic signal infrastructure. Access to Torrens Street is limited to residents and businesses. All works will be completed by late 2026.
- School Safety Program, Telopea Park: The crossing is operational. Landscape works including tree planting are complete. Asphalt defects will be rectified in the coming weeks.

- Mowing: Acton, Campbell, Canberra Avenue, Captain Cook Crescent, Sturt Avenue and Wentworth Avenue.
- NBN upgrades: Forrest, Deakin, Griffith, Narrabundah and Red Hill.
- Road closure:
- The northbound bus and emergency services lane on Commonwealth Avenue will be closed from 10 am to 3:30 pm on Wednesday 26 August 2026.
- From Thursday 27 August 2026, Watson Street in Turner will be closed in both directions between McKay Gardens and Barry Drive from 8 pm to 5 am, Monday to Sunday as required. This is to allow Evoenergy works on the City Feeder project.
- Roads and paths:
- Asphalt patching: Lyneham
- Litter collection: Majura Parkway, Morshead Drive, Lanyon Drive and Parks Way
- Path closure: The shared use path between Albert Street / Barrine Drive and Corkhill Street is closed until Friday 11 September 2026. Please use the Lake Burley Griffin foreshore shared use path instead.
- Path maintenance: Ainslie
- Street sweeping: Braddon, City, Dickson, Kingston Foreshore and shops in Deakin, Griffith, Kingston, Manuka and Narrabundah.
- Trees:
- Pruning and removals: Ainslie, Deakin, Downer, Griffith, Narrabundah and Yarralumla
- Young tree care: Ainslie, Campbell, Deakin, Griffith and Narrabundah.
- Weed management:
- Serrated tussock and Chilean needle grass control: Across the region
- Underpass, bus stop and concrete median weed management: Dickson, Downer, Forrest, Griffith, Kingston, Lyneham, Red Hill and Watson.
Gungahlin
- ACT parks and reserves:
- Mulligans Flat: Maintenance and upgrades to the Mulligans Flat sanctuary fence is ongoing until the end of the year.
- Works continue to remove scrap metal from reserves.

- Mowing: Yerrabi Pond District Park and community recreation parks in Casey, Crace, Franklin and Moncrieff.
- Road closures:
- The eastern side of Jorgensen Street (from Ketterer Street to Tycho Street) is closed until Friday 28 August 2026 due to works on the Gungahlin tennis facility (weather permitting).
- Ernest Cavanagh Street will be closed in both directions between Hinder Street and Kate Crace Street as required between Friday 21 August and Wednesday 30 September 2026 (7 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday) to facilitate Evoenergy works.
- The following roads will be closed as required until Thursday 31 December 2026 to allow Evoenergy to install essential upgrades linked to the Gold Creek substation:
- Gundaroo Drive service road southern side between Pallin Street and Gungahlin Place
- Gundaroo Drive service road southern side between Gozzard Street and Gungahlin Place
- Gungahlin Place (both directions) between Swain Street and Gundaroo Drive

- Weed management:

Tuggeranong
- Horticultural maintenance: Lake Tuggeranong.
- Infrastructure projects:
- Erindale shops upgrade: Community engagement is open on proposed public space improvements. Have your say before Friday 25 September 2026.
- Monaro Highway upgrade: Temporary traffic lights are in place northbound at the intersection of Monaro Highway and Lanyon Drive. During off-peak hours on weekdays, both northbound and southbound carriageways on the Monaro Highway may be reduced to one lane.

- Underpass, bus stop and concrete median weed management: Banks, Chisholm, Greenway, Isabella Plains, Richardson and Theodore.
Woden, Weston Creek and Molonglo
- ACT parks and reserves:
- Kama Nature Reserve: Access to the reserve continues to be impacted by the William Hovell Drive duplication. Currently the best access is from Apuatimi Crescent in Whitlam.
- Bluetts Block: Fence works will be carried out adjacent to Bluetts Block.
- Bridge maintenance: Melrose Drive (southbound) between Corinna Street and Brewer Street in Phillip will be reduced from three lanes to one lane from 7 am to 6 pm on Friday 28 August 2026, weather permitting. This will allow for the completion of scheduled maintenance works on Bridge 3088.
- Infrastructure projects:
- Mawson shops upgrade: Community engagement is open on proposed public space improvements. Have your say before Friday 25 September 2026.

- Mowing: Duffy Dog Park, Eddison District Park, Fetherston Gardens and Phillip.
- Pond maintenance: Silt and debris removal at the Wyndham Avenue retention ponds in Denman Prospect continues until Sunday 30 August 2026, weather permitting.
- Road closure: Forest Drive is closed in both directions between Totara Road and Dairy Farmers Hill car park and lookout at the National Arboretum from 6 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday as required for tree works until Wednesday 30 September 2026.

Rural
- ACT parks and reserves:
- Booroomba Rocks Road: Closed until further notice due to adverse weather conditions. For more information, contact the Namadgi Visitor Centre on 02 6237 5307 or email namadginationalpark@act.gov.au.
- Gibraltar Falls: Viewing platform and walking track closed while safety upgrades are completed.
- Red Rocks cliff in Bullen Range Nature Reserve: Closed to rock climbers until Thursday 31 December 2026 to support peregrine falcon breeding season.
- Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve: Minor works are underway at Sheedys picnic area, including the construction of a shelter over the barbecues. Please follow signage. There are barbecues available nearby and at Webbs picnic area.
- Woods Reserve campground: Closed until late spring 2026 while facilities are upgraded.

General maintenance
- Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
- Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year.
- Graffiti is removed within 15 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
- Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5 to 6 times a year. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
- Playgrounds are routinely inspected and maintained as follows:
- district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) which are inspected twice per week
- central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) which are inspected every week
- local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) which are inspected every fortnight.
- Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned as follows:
- town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
- local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
- Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required.
- Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
- Fix My Street reports of death cap mushrooms on public land are investigated and removed as needed.
