General updates

Key updates by region

Belconnen

  • Infrastructure projects: See the Belconnen infrastructure projects webpage for updates on current projects.
  • Horticultural maintenance: Charnwood and Higgins shops.
  • NBN upgrades: Florey, Higgins, Holt and Latham.
  • Road closures: Macfarlane Burnet Avenue, at the intersection of Parkwood Road and Southern Cross Drive, will be closed until Monday 20 July 2026.
  • Roads and paths:
    • Litter collection: Braybrooke Street, College Street, Haydon Drive and Masterman Street
    • Street sweeping: Belconnen Bus Interchange, Belconnen Town Centre, Emu Bank and Hawker shops.
  • Trees:
    • Pruning and removals: Belconnen, Giralang and Kaleen
    • Young tree care: Belconnen, Evatt and Florey.
  • Weed management:
    • Roadside weed management: Barton Highway
    • Open space weed management: Belconnen, Florey and Kaleen
    • Serrated Tussock and Chilean Needle Grass control: Across the region.

Central Canberra

  • ACT parks and reserves:
    • Removal and replacement of stock fencing across reserves in preparation for the Bushfire Operations Program grazing schedule.
    • Rabbit fumigation at Mt Pleasant. Please keep dogs on a leash and give contractors a wide berth.
  • Horticultural maintenance: Manuka shops, Captain Cook oval and Watson laneways.
  • Infrastructure projects:
    • Garden City Cycleway: Construction works are ongoing on Cooyong Street, Braddon. Lane closures and permanent lane configuration works have begun. Works are expected to be completed by late 2026.
    • Glebe Park seating upgrades: Street furniture replacements have begun. Some seating areas will be unavailable during installation. Please keep clear of construction areas during this time.

  • NBN upgrades: Forrest, Griffith, Narrabundah and Red Hill.
  • Park maintenance: Lyneham.
  • Road closures:
    • Knowles Place in Acton will be closed on Sunday 26 July 2026 from 7 am to 6 pm for resurfacing, weather permitting. West Row southbound will be closed at Alinga Street, and Knowles Place southbound will be closed between London Circuit and Edinburgh Avenue. Access to Odgers Lane will be maintained during these works.
    • There will be lane closures on Parkes Way westbound over Wendouree Drive lane on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 July 2026 between 9:30 am and 4 pm.
    • Sections of Capital Circle and State Circle will be closed nightly between 8 pm and 7 am until August 2026 for road maintenance. Please allow for extra travel time and follow detour signage in the area. For more information, visit the National Capital Authority website.

    • Shared path maintenance: Crack sealing on an approximately 2.7km stretch of shared path that runs parallel to the Majura Parkway on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 July 2026
    • Street sweeping: City, Kingston Foreshore and shops in Braddon, Deakin, Dickson, Griffith, Kingston, Manuka and Narrabundah.
  • Trees
    • Pruning and removals: Ainslie, Deakin, Griffith, Red Hill and Yarralumla
    • Young tree care: Campbell, Forrest, Griffith and Narrabundah.
  • Weed management:
    • Roadside weed management: Barton Highway and Federal Highway
    • Open space weed management: Ainslie and Braddon
    • Serrated Tussock and Chilean Needle Grass control: Across the region.

Gungahlin

  • ACT parks and reserves: Stock fencing is being repaired across reserves in preparation for the Bushfire Operations Program grazing schedule.
  • Cycle path cleaning: Jacka, Moncrieff and Taylor.

  • Horticultural maintenance:
    • Underpasses in Jacka, Moncrieff and Taylor
    • Shops at Gungahlin Town Centre and Hall.
  • Roads and paths:

    • Roadside weed management: Casey and Forde.

Tuggeranong

  • ACT parks and reserves: Pine Island central toilet block is closed until late July 2026. Visitors can access the southern toilet block during this period.
  • Cycle path cleaning: Banks, Conder and Gordon.
  • Horticultural maintenance:
    • Tuggeranong Town Centre shops
    • Tharwa Drive
    • Gordon open spaces
    • Underpasses in Banks, Conder and Gordon.
  • Infrastructure projects:
    • Monaro Highway upgrade: Ongoing pavement construction works continue throughout the work area. Temporary traffic lights are in place northbound at the intersection of Monaro Highway and Lanyon Drive. During off-peak hours on weekdays, both northbound and southbound carriageways on the Monaro Highway may be reduced to one lane.

    • Pruning and removals: Chisholm, Gilmore and Richardson
    • Planting: Fadden.
  • Weed management:
    • Alligator Weed control: Tuggeranong Creek
    • Open space weed management: Erindale Drive
    • Roadside weed management: Oxley and Wanniassa.

Woden, Weston Creek and Molonglo

  • ACT parks and reserves:
    • Fence removal at Bluetts Block to improve safety for wildlife and visitors.
  • Horticultural maintenance:
    • Open spaces in Isaacs and Swinger Hill
    • Shops at Cooleman Court and Lyons.
  • Infrastructure projects:
    • William Hovell Drive duplication: Concrete barriers are in place along the 4.5 km work area. Reduced speed limits and traffic management measures are in place. There is no pedestrian access at the current roundabout on William Hovell Drive, Drake-Brockman Drive and Kingsford Smith Drive. Pedestrian detours are in place to Belconnen Way, Kingsford Smith Drive, Murranji Street and Florina Place. There is no parking and no access to Kama and The Pinnacle nature reserves from William Hovell Drive. The Bicentennial National Trail underpass is closed.

  • Ponds maintenance: Silt and debris removal at the Wyndham Avenue retention ponds in Denman Prospect continues until Sunday 30 August 2026, weather permitting.

Rural

  • ACT parks and reserves:
    • Booroomba Rocks Road: Closed until further notice due to adverse weather conditions. For more information, contact the Namadgi Visitor Centre on 02 6237 5307 or email namadginationalpark@act.gov.au.
    • Gibraltar Falls: Viewing platform and walking track closed while safety upgrades are completed.
    • Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve: Minor works are underway at Sheedys picnic area, including the construction of a shelter over the barbecues. Please follow signage. There are barbecues available nearby and at Webbs picnic area.
    • Woods Reserve campground: Closed until late spring 2026 while facilities are upgraded.
