Every day, Domestic Animal Services (DAS) returns lost dogs to their owners, feeds, houses and walks the dogs before their families come to get them and re-homes the dogs whose owners never come.
It's a tough but very rewarding job.
Visit or call DAS if you:
If you have found a lost or roaming dog, there are a few ways you can help return it safely home. Visit the lost dogs page for more information.
The friendly staff at DAS can also help you with dog exercise maps, keeper's licence applications, and can give advice regarding animal nuisance matters.
You can speak to one of the DAS rangers by calling Access Canberra on 13 22 81 during business hours and asking for DAS.
To report a dog attack or injured dog or cat please call 13 22 81. DAS rangers that are on-call will attend emergencies outside office hours.
If the matter is urgent then the most appropriate contact point is police on 000. ACT Policing has an immediate response capability for these types of situations.
DAS Rangers have a response capability, however they are not well placed for immediate attendance.
