• Green bin collections. Households who sign up for free fortnightly green bin collections will receive a 240-litre green bin. A one off fee applies for the bin, with no charge for concession card holders. Green bin - Apply for a green bin
• Household green waste can be dropped drop off for free at Mugga Lane Resource Management Centre (Corkhill Bros) for recycling. Fees apply to oversized (branches or trees larger than 20 cm in diameter and/or 2 m in length) residential and commercial green waste.
• Drop off for free at Canberra Sand and Gravel, Parkwood Road (Belconnen).
• Drop off at Canberra Sand and Gravel on Vicars Street (Mitchell). Fees apply.
• Organise a trash pak or garden waste skip bin service. Registered trash pak operators in Canberra include:

• Residents in Belconnen, Bruce, Cook and Macquarie are part of a Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) pilot. Households participating in the pilot can compost food scraps along with garden waste in their FOGO bin.

Why?

Garden organics can be made into a variety of compost and mulch products. Keeping garden organics out of your landfill bin reduces the creation of the harmful greenhouse gas, methane in landfill.

What can go in your green bin?

Branches (no longer than 45 cm and a diameter of 10 cm), leaves, prunings, bamboo (all varieties), weeds, wood chips, grass clippings and flowers.
