The weather forecast this week is partly cloudy.Our planned works are outlined below. They are subject to weather and any required operational changes.
General updates
Dog adoption: We have 27 dogs available for adoption from Domestic Animal Services. This includes 2 seniors, Dozer who just had his 10th birthday and 9-year-old Thor. For more information see adopt a dog.
Mowing: The mowing program has resumed with the start of spring. Over the coming weeks you’ll see our mowing crews cutting grass in your suburb. For more information see the mowing page.

Trees: Crews are undertaking pruning and removals in Florey, Higgins and Latham. They are also undertaking young tree care in Evatt, Kaleen and Lawson.
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Belconnen region including:
Evatt shops improvements: Works to install a new balustrade around the chairs and tables in the central open space are complete.
Palmerville Heritage Park loop path: The construction of the new path is progressing well with work on the raised boardwalk underway. The park will remain a dog off-leash area during construction. However, dog owners are required to ensure effective control (including verbal commands and leashing, if required) to avoid dogs accessing the work site.
ACT parks and reserves: Pedestrian detours are in place and signposted along Charcoal Kiln Road for the Glenburn Heritage Trail Walk at Kowen Forest while forestry harvesting operations, truck loading and haulage takes place. The walk remains open but detours are expected to be in place until mid-September 2025.
Horticultural maintenance: Crews are mulching in Civic.
Trees: Crews are undertaking pruning and removals in the City and Forrest. They are also undertaking young tree care in Ainslie, Kingston, Narrabundah and Watson.
Weeds: Crews are managing weeds at laneways and shops in Campbell, Deakin, Dickson, Lyneham, O’Connor, Watson and Yarralumla.
Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Central Canberra region including:
Hopetoun Circuit safety improvements: Construction continues on improvements at the intersection of Hopetoun Circuit and Adelaide Avenue, north off-ramp Yarralumla and south on-ramp in Deakin. Changed traffic arrangements including single lane closures of the on and off-ramps are in place. Works are expected to be complete at the end of October 2025. Traffic controllers and speed reductions will be applied accordingly during off-peak hours.
Prescribed burns: The 2025 prescribed burning program is underway with planned burns in Gungahlin Eucalyptus Plantation, Hall and Gubur Dhaura Heritage Park, subject to suitable weather conditions. The community may see an increase in smoke and emergency service vehicles in these areas but is asked not to call emergency triple-zero (000) unless they see an unattended fire.
Roads and paths: Crews are undertaking:

roadside maintenance (water blasting) on the Barton Highway at Hall (night work).
Trees: Crews are undertaking pruning and removals in Franklin and Harrison. They are also undertaking young tree care in Amaroo, Harrison and Palmerston.
Nadjung Mada Nature Reserve: Upgrade works continue along Old Well Station Road in Nadjung Mada Nature Reserve. During works the road is closed to walkers and cyclists. Completion of these works is anticipated by early 2026.
Ecologists are conducting crayfish monitoring in the creeks and bogs of Namadgi National Park.

Prescribed burns: The 2025 prescribed burning program is underway with planned burns in McQuoids Hill Nature Reserve and Pine Island, subject to suitable conditions. The community may see an increase in smoke and emergency service vehicles in these areas but is asked not to call emergency triple-zero (000) unless they see an unattended fire.
Roads and paths: Crews are undertaking:
roadside maintenance (water blasting) on Athllon Drive in Greenway (night work)
maintenance grading in rural areas on Bendora Road.
Trees: Crews are undertaking pruning and removals in Kambah and Wanniassa.
Weeds: Crews are managing weeds at shops and laneways in Kambah, Gordon and Gowrie.
Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Tuggeranong region including:
Athllon Drive duplication: Works are currently underway on footpath upgrades between Drakeford Drive and Sulwood Drive on the southern section. Further details are available on travel impacts.
Monaro Highway pavement rehabilitation: Works are approximately 75% complete. The remainder of the works are expected to be completed by the end of September 2025, weather permitting.
Monaro Highway upgrades: Substructure works have progressed on the Dog Trap Creek Bridge in preparation for plank installation.
Playground improvements: Rubber softfall replacement works at Kambah Adventure Park are complete. All areas of the playground have reopened to the public.
Prescribed burns: The 2025 prescribed burning program is underway with planned burns in Denman Prospect, Stromlo and Mount Taylor Nature Reserve, subject to suitable weather conditions. The community may see an increase in smoke and emergency service vehicles in these areas but is asked not to call emergency triple-zero (000) unless they see an unattended fire.
Rabbit control: Rabbit control work is underway at Mount Mugga Mugga Nature Reserve and Jerrabomberra Avenue in Symonston until Friday 19 September 2025. Signage is in place to advise reserve users of activity and restrictions.
Trees: Crews are undertaking pruning and removals in Weston. The annual Wattle Day planting event is also being held on Monday 1 September 2025 in Woden town park.
Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year. We manage 125 barbecues across Canberra.
Graffiti is removed within 5 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5-6 times a year. There are over 160 urban lakes and ponds around Canberra. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
Playgrounds are routinely inspected. We manage over 500 playgrounds across Canberra including:
district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) which are inspected twice per week
central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) which are inspected every week
local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) which are inspected every fortnight.
Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned. We manage 90 shopping centres across Canberra and clean them as follows:
town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required. We manage over 70 toilets across Canberra.
Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
