New half-pipe for Belconnen skatepark

Construction is underway on Belconnen skatepark half-pipe.

Belconnen skatepark was built over 30 years ago and has seen people from across the country and world drop into the bowl and surrounding skate elements.

A new competition standard half-pipe will be built at the skatepark along Emu Bank in Belconnen. The half-pipe will be approximately 7 metres tall providing another space for skateboarding, freestyle BMX, scootering and more.

Construction

Construction is now well underway with fabrication of the half-pipe continuing off-site and earthworks progressing on-site.

During construction access for construction vehicles will be via the intersection of Emu Bank and Eastern Valley Way. There may be temporary changes to pedestrian routes in and around the skatepark during construction. These will be signed with detours to ensure access is clear and maintained at all times.

Minimal impacts to use of the Belconnen skatepark throughout construction are anticipated, with the skatepark to remain open. In the event of any changes to this advice, notice will be provided via email and signage on site.

We anticipate having the half-pipe available for community use early in the second half of the year however an update on this timing will be provided once installation of the half-pipe commences on site.

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
