Lanyon Marketplace improvements

Current update

Construction on public space improvements at Lanyon Marketplace started on Monday 6 January 2025 and is expected to take 4 months to finish, weather permitting.

The improvements will enhance safety, access and landscaping to provide a more enjoyable experience and encourage the community to shop locally.

Works will be carried out between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday. If required, work may be undertaken on weekends between the same hours.

The Balcombe Street and Sidney Nolan Street intersection is closed and will remain closed to traffic during the construction period. This improves safety for road users, pedestrians and construction workers and allows for the work to be completed faster.

Signage will be installed to safely detour the community around the works.

Further updates will be provided on this page.

Tharwa Drive and Norman Lindsay Street intersection

The roundabout at Tharwa Drive and Norman Lindsay Street is complete.

Some works including the construction of concrete footpaths, installation of new streetlights and landscaping will continue around the Tharwa Drive and Norman Lindsay Street intersection in early 2025.

Signage will be in place to direct road users to drive safely through the intersection while the contractor completes these works.

This intersection was identified for safety improvements due to the number of collisions in recent years. A roundabout has been identified as the safest option to support traffic in this area. For more information on the project visit the Tharwa Drive and Norman Lindsay Street intersection page.
