Make road safety a priority these school holidays

This school holiday period, make road safety your priority to ensure everyone gets where they need to be.

With increased motorists on the road over the school holidays drivers are urged to put the phone away, slow down and drive to the conditions.  This is particularly relevant on Kings Highway with a large number of Canberrans heading to and from the south coast.

Please be patient during congestion and avoid unnecessary or unsafe overtaking. Drivers should also allow extra time to get to their destination. Reducing speed and leaving a safe distance can reduce risks by giving you more time to react to unexpected circumstances.

Don’t forget to rest when tired. There are several rest areas along the Kings Highway, use them to stretch your legs, get some fresh air and take a break.

The Kings Highway Road Safety Partnership is an active program that provides a coordinated cross-jurisdictional approach between enforcement and community education to reduce road trauma on the Kings Highway.
